The cost to sit for the California Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) exam is $125. This fee is required as part of the application process to take the QME competency exam (QME test), which is administered by CPS HR Consulting's partner, Pearson VUE. Applicants must submit a completed original Application for Appointment as Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME Form 100) along with the registration packet and fee to the Medical Unit of California’s Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) for approval before registering for the exam.
The length of the examination is 3 hours, 200 questions in a multiple-choice qme exam questions.

Clinical Assessment/Evaluation and Medical Treatment: Area Questions 40 = 20% of the exam.
Disability Issues/QIW/Vouchers/P&S: Area Questions 50 = 25% of the exam.
Causation and Apportionment: Area Questions 30 = 15% of the exam.
Basic Laws and Regulations and Report Writing Elements: Area Questions 80 = 40% of the exam.
Total QME exam questions: 200 = 100%
